Published in Gluten free Globalicious Magazine
By Lori Miller

Shanel Sinclair, owner, and chef of Augusta Street Kitchen in Providence, Rhode Island, opened her new, 100% dedicated gluten-free Bakery and Catering business, just a little over three years. Before this, she lived and worked in New York City where she ran the Celiac Support Groups for a few years. She also worked as a Nutrition Consultant & writer for a few functional medicine physicians in Manhattan, where many of the clients had food allergies just as she lived with. Continually being disappointed with the quality and taste of the food products she saw being offered in stores to people with food intolerances, allergies, Chronic Illness & Autoimmune conditions, Shanel knew that she had to help make a difference in her future.

Meet Trailblazer Shanel Sinclair

Published in Boston Voyager

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shanel Sinclair.

Shanel, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
It started 17 years ago when I found out gluten (and a few other foods) and I had to break up for good. That lead me to become a Nutritionist and eventually, writer. As I saw clients/patients struggle to eat well, I began putting together menus and developing recipes for them. They were extremely happy with how healthier food options could also be delicious. It eventually led me to several opportunities with a few functional medicine doctors that I’m so grateful to have had. I realized, when moving from NYC to the Rhode Island area, there weren’t many options for me, in terms of dining out. It was then I decided to open up a small cafe that focused on healthy& delicious food.

Organic coconut oil, sustainable and organic palm oil and organic almond flour are a few ingredients in her curated arsenal. Her cake bombs take quinoa to sweet heights and her banana bread incorporates loads of pureed bananas, ensuring that each bite is rich and moist. Some other sweet items on the menu include chocolate gummies and baked blueberry and chocolate donuts. She also sells savory items like grass-fed beef buns, organic salads and organic turkey sandwiches.

Gluten-free baked goods

Published in Providence Business News
By Mary MacDonald

While gluten-free products have become a dietary trend, a new Providence business, Augusta Street Kitchen, was borne of dietary necessity. After she was diagnosed with Celiac disease, owner Shanel Sinclair started cooking and baking items that would be healthy and nonprocessed. She couldn’t ingest gluten, and dairy and soy were off-limits too. But the gluten-free…
